about us

A project by Braunton Skate Jam

Braunton Skate Jam was created 2 years ago with a sole mission to help raise funds for a revamp of the crumbling Braunton skate bowl. Since then, the project has steadily grown into the larger North Devon Skateboarding CIC. All profits from PLY will go towards North Devon Skateboarding CIC, with the aim to help local skaters thrive, through providing new skate sites and equipment. We also support other sound skate projects, and take an active role in local mental health awareness schemes. Last year we hosted a fantastic SkateJam festival at the Braunton Bowl, as well as gigs to support Devonshire artists, all while raising money and awareness for our charity.

A few months ago we had the idea of making a zine, packed with some of our favourite people, causes, and boardsports. There are so many local artists, musicians, photographers, and all-round good people who deserve to have their message shouted from the rooftops. We couldn't quite afford a megaphone, so this is our second best.

I used to love getting lost in Top of the Pops magazine as a kid, and the youth and excitement that physical item held are exactly what we want to capture with PLY. We hope you can similarly lose yourself with this project. Have a flick through our zine, then when you're finished slip it in your back pocket to get those nice denim stains around the dog-eared corners.

Skating is a gift to us, and this is us giving back
